I would like to nominate this nurse for a DAISY award. He was hired on November 1, 2010. Since being hired I have received nothing but compliments about him. He is a hard worker and made every minute of orientation meaningful so that he could learn everything he needed in order to perform successfully on the units. Not long after joining our team, I started receiving e-mails about how wonderful he is and please send him to their unit every day. He recently received a compliment from the Customer Care line that stated, "of all the nurses she has ever been assigned, he is by far the best. She said, "You would have thought I was his mother, as good of care he has taken." She suggested that she was really surprised that a male nurse could be as caring and emphathetic as him. Great job!" One day while I was working on a unit, he was in orientation. This particular unit has an admission nurse who completes all admission paperwork. The new admission was assigned to me. The patient only spoke Spanish. I needed to call the interpreter. However, this nurse is bilingual and stepped in and took it upon himself to complete the paperwork. This is from an e-mail sent to me by a staff member: "I just wanted to let you know! Yesterday was the second day he worked with me on 2 North, and I hope there are many to come. he is an excellent nurse! He is very conscious of his patients' needs and manages to keep a great disposition. I heard nothing but good comments from other staff about him. Send him back to 2 North anytime!" I am so impressed by his caring nature and his attentiveness to his patients. It seems that no matter where he works all of the staff members get along with him. he is truly an asset to UMHC!
There is no one situation, it's every situation that requires him to receive this award. He treats me like I was his mother. He is very very polite and he has the manners of a saint. He is very thorough in every aspect of his job. he always has a big beautiful smile on his face and he always listens to the patients needs and complies with them. I could go on and on about him because I have never seen a nurse as good as him and especially being a young man. He knows his job very well. The world needs to be full of persons like him.
