Debbie received multiple nominations for this award providing evidence that she consistently demonstrates the COMPASSION and PASSION of a DAISY nurse! One of her patients shared this description of why Debbie deserves this award:
“Deb is the nurse that can brighten anyone’s day. She walks into the room and suddenly the fear of getting a PICC line fades and you no longer feel scared. She takes time to make sure her job is done to the best of her ability and to make sure you understand what’s going on at all times. She deserves this award not only for her great skills and years of experience, but for her heart. She cares more than any nurse I’ve met. She commits herself to making you better and her presence alone makes you feel secure and loved.”
This patient’s mother also nominated Debbie acknowledging her “huge smile and an attitude that makes you feel like you are the only patient in her assignment for that day. She goes the extra mile to put her patients and families at ease.”
A colleague provides additional validation of Debbie’s qualifications when she said: “When Debbie comes to the floor, she brings sunshine with her. She has a positive attitude, no matter what the situation may be. The kids and staff love her! She is a great teacher…she’s always willing to share her skills with others. I love working with Debbie, she lights up a room!”

Debbie has been a CHAMPION for Magnet designation since the beginning of our hospital’s journey. She was a charter member of the Magnet Nursing Advisory Council and currently serves on the Quality and Research Council. Debbie’s enthusiasm for this program is contagious and she takes every opportunity to share what the journey means to her with others. She is a role model for professional behaviors…most recently becoming certified and going back to school to pursue her educational goals!

As quoted by a colleague in her nomination, “you deserve the best because you are the best!”
