Nomination by family

The patient had a stroke and was moved to UT Medical Center. Dalya was her RN for the week. Dalya showed that her patient was not just another patient, but she was a human in critical care. She showed compassion, love, faith, sweetness not just to the patient, but to the whole gathering of friends and family.

Dalya performed her duties with the most skillful actions and care on the patient. She answered all questions with thoughtful answers so we understood. She visited our family at the hospital while she was not working. Dalya is a GREAT ASSET to UT Medical and a WONDERFUL LOVING NURSE!

Nomination by Nurse Manager

I want to add that both of the patients' sons had called for the same reason to state how amazing this floor was and to let me know how lucky UTMC was to have a nurse like Dalya. At this point in both conversations, the sons would start crying as they would discuss all the things that Dalya had done to help them throughout this awful time. Just for the record their mother passed away on our floor. There were two main highlights they both shared with me, and that I feel describe a DAISY Nurse to a tee.

After taking care of their mother for a couple of days, Dalya came in on her day off to spend time with this family from Atlanta, GA. They said she prayed with them and treated them as family, which really helped during this tough time. But the biggest thing she did (they both openly cried at this point), was she drove down to Atlanta on her day off to attend the funeral ceremony. In their words, "God sent an angel to send my mother off and it touched our family to the core to see this level of care and concern for a patients' family".

Dalya truly exemplified a DAISY Nurse during this trying time for this family. I am truly proud to say she is a 10 East nurse, and that I can say I know her.
