Andrea Orozco, BSN, RN is a clinical champion of our Childrens at Parker Emergency Department utilizing her expertise from current and past positions to move our unit into the new millennium. She has 7 years of Emergency Nursing experience beginning in Miami Childrens Hospital , one of the busiest pediatric emergency departments in the country. Her passion for ED nursing includes her clinical experience in handling a multitude of conditions and in dealing with families in situations of emotional distress and crisis. She joined the Childrens Hospital in Denver in February of 2006 and transferred to TCH@Parker in May of that year. Drea’s ability to assess the clinical environment related to coordination of care prompted staff involvement in a pilot redefining our staffing model and patient care assignments. Her work on hallway assignments has facilitated improved patient throughput and care delivery for a department that operates with a core staffing foundation. Her passion for ED nursing and compassion for children prompted her to an immediate response in light of the earthquake disaster in Haiti. Drea partnered with pediatric ED physicians in providing a 10 day mission trip for emergency response. Upon her return she continued to support the local community through involvement with ongoing disaster relief efforts in Haiti as well as other pediatric interest groups. Drea’s personal experience involving a family member with cystic fibrosis prompted her to be unit chair person for the annual Mile High Stadium stair climb benefitting the Colorado Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Most recently Drea has demonstrated her dedication to The Childrens Hospital by serving as the face of TCH nursing in a currently running marketing campaign. Her heroic efforts and commitment with her team to save lives created a December miracle for a Parker family and their baby.
