On behalf of the family of ‘C’, we wanted to recognize the efforts of Akela Hodges-Pearson with regard to her care of C during her stay at Kaiser Roseville. From the very beginning, Akela demonstrated a genuine interest in C’s well being. Her smile and warm greeting is infectious and encouraging. Not only does she have exceptional people skills, her knowledge of the technical aspects of the job is outstanding. She is able to clearly articulate each task she performs, the reasons she is executing them and the desired outcome. She does this prior to performing each task, which eliminates questions and puts us as parents at ease.

Akela performs her duties with confidence but does not hesitate to consult with peers or physicians to ensure efficiency and clear communication. These actions demonstrate true leadership. Although Akela understands her first priority is the patient in her charge, she regularly ensures our needs are met as well. We feel Kaiser Roseville is blessed to have such an exceptional nurse. Akela sets the standard by which all RNs should be measured.
