DAISY Launches Public Campaign to Elicit More Gratitude to Nurses

NYC

ANNOUNCING CAMPAIGN TO SAY THANK YOU TO NURSES BY NOMINATING THEM FOR THE DAISY AWARD® FOR EXTRAORDINARY NURSES

(January 5, 2021) Nurses have never needed our gratitude more than now. A campaign urging the public to say Thank You to nurses who have cared for them, their family members or friends kicks off with signs in Manhattan’s Times Square on Friday, January 8, 2021. The DAISY Foundation™ invites everyone who has ever had an experience with a nurse to express their gratitude by nominating their nurse for the international DAISY Award® for Extraordinary Nurses.

Meaningful recognition of nurses is important to their resilience, helping fight the exhaustion so many are feeling as a result of the onslaught of COVID-19. Created by members of the Barnes family who wanted to say thank you nurses for the compassionate care they experienced when their Patrick was hospitalized in 1999, DAISY now partners with over 4,600 healthcare facilities and nursing schools internationally. Nearly 2 million nurses have been nominated so far. The goal of this campaign is to double that number!

This campaign is being organized by Outdoor Solutions, with media donated by Branded CitiesOutfront MediaVan Wagner Outdoor, and others. In addition to the out-of-home media, a nationwide social media campaign will encourage the public to nominate nurses for The DAISY Award. Technology to collect DAISY nominations is powered by GetWellNetwork.
