Amanda and I really connected. I respect how she treats patients, always going beyond the normal nursing duties.
I was admitted on Christmas Eve for what would be a six day stay in the hospital. Amanda was my nurse and an outstanding employee. I have worked for a number of years at United Airlines and have done a lot of hiring, so I know good people when I meet them. Amanda is good people. Amanda is someone who has a radiating smile and so many special qualities about her.

I like to exercise a lot, but being in the hospital with so many restrictions, I wasn't able to be active. Amanda told me, "Tell me what you need, and I'll do everything to help you." - this approach was very helpful to me. I really wanted to take a walk. A simple walk down the hallway. So one day, I said, "Is there any way we can walk down the hall?" Sure enough, Amanda made it happen. We both went together, and it was a big thing for me. It got me out and got me moving.

Amanda and I really connected. I respect how she treats patients, always going beyond the normal nursing duties. For example, during my hospitalization, my family visited frequently - my three daughters and all my grandchildren. If I had a test, Amanda would go over the results with me in a way I could understand; she was also able to explain everything going on to my family. She comforted them and was able to relate to them - not just me, the patient - I was very impressed by that.

This may sound silly, but she actually treated me like a human being. She always was there when I needed somebody. I also got to meet her sister, who was working on 3 West, and she was wonderful, too.
