During the five days I was hospitalized, Yolanda was my night nurse for most of the time. Each evening when she came on duty, she greeted me with a true smile, asked after my well-being and checked in with my family to see if they or I needed anything. My husband was with me for the time I was there and was extremely worried.
Yolanda did little extra things like getting pillows and blankets, answering questions, etc. to ease his worry. Throughout each night, she would also do little things to comfort me. When I was stressed, she would talk with me to get my mind on pleasant things. She seemed to know what I needed before I voiced it. She was quick and efficient. When she saw the meds were not combatting the pain, she immediately contacted the doctor to change them. I remember when she went off-duty the last day I was there, she said, "I really like you, but I hope I don't see you when I come back on duty." That made me laugh! I know in my heart that each of her patients received the same wonderful care. I am scheduled to return for surgery, and I hope she will be my nurse once again!
