My 90 year old mother was a patient at GSMC and during this time, we have been fortunate to have four of the most impressive young nurses that we have ever encountered. The names of these nurses are; Yolanda Dixon, Lora Dorgan, Leah Garcia and Taylor Inman. When you work in the public service sector, certain characteristics must be exhibited to encounter with the various issues presented on a daily basis. I believe Taylor is on her way to becoming a great nurse; time will allow that to play out. I believe Lora and Leah to be great nurses now. I think I could have just as easily chosen either of those nurses to highlight within this framework. However, I would, at this time, like to draw attention to Yolanda.

Yolanda has that unique compassion to assist other people when in need. Her caring can be seen in her face and eyes. You can tell she is concerned about others, you can even see it in her eyes. If we could only clone this nurse, this world would be much better. Yolanda's love for the healthcare profession could not be at a higher level.

...

There were way too many reasons to even recall for this nomination; but the best one, I feel, was when I was upset and crying. Yolanda brought me tissues, rubbed my shoulders; she stayed jovial and tried to make me smile. She jumped to get everything I needed, even if I didn't think of it, she thought of things I might need. Yolanda Dixon is absolutely spectacular. She goes above and beyond for her patients.
