I regret that I was unable to adjust my schedule today as I would have loved seeing each of you again.
I am feeling quite well and as a matter of fact when a friend recently asked my husband how I was feeling he said, "I think they fixed her 120%".
My emergency surgery in late October 2018 and the follow-up procedure in early December seem at times surreal. What does not feel surreal at all is the incredible care which was given to me during both hospitalizations. Whether the caregiver was a PCT, LPN, RN or a nursing student the kindness and professionalism offered to me was incredible. There always seemed to be a strong sense of teamwork and clear communication amongst the team members. Once I was able to walk the hallways (lap after lap after lap) I witnessed the team administering with grace, empathy, and efficiency the same quality care which was being offered to me.
My surgeon as well as the attending staff in the Emergency Room and ICU most assuredly did their jobs masterfully as well. I feel so lucky to have been a patient on Barnard 3. The kindness and patience that was offered to me played a big part in my recovery. I credit each of you for your hand in my recovery.
We in the Clearwater community are honestly blessed to have well trained and extremely well-qualified nurses in our hospitals.
I know some days are long and some outcomes out of your control. Please never forget how fortunate I feel to have been placed in your caring hands. Bless each and every one of you for your dedication to a most honorable profession. The DAISY Award is a perfect way to honor those whose care has been "totally awesome".
My family and I will never forget the energy you put forth on my behalf.
