While orienting on MCSD, my preceptor was dealing with a very critical patient. Will was assigned to this floor that night also. When ever he was not busy he was always helping my preceptor with her patients and helping to teach and orient me as well. In talking, I told him my orientation to MCSC would be limited because the unit is similar to MCSD. Will offered to take me on a tour of MCSC when we had some downtime. During lunch break he showed me how to get to cafeteria and on the way back to the unit, we did tour of MCSC. He introduced me to the staff and gave me a quick orientation of the unit. As we were rounding the back hall the telemetry nurse called out "Nurse to room 312 NOW!"

We had noticed nurses and the Rapid Response Team in another patient's room during our tour. Will looked up and we where at room 312. He opened the door and knew the patient needed emergency interventions. Will immediately assessed the patient and started CPR while I called the code and got the code cart. Will stayed with and assisted with this patient throughout the entire Code Blue. The nurses and Rapid Response team were thanking him and were so grateful.

Will clearly exemplifies Mission MERIT and putting patient care first.
