Ginny Hansen has ommetaphobia, anything to do with eyes makes her shudder. When faced with a patient with Keratitis, rather than have somebody else treat the patient, she provided the most attentive, professional and compassionate care. She called the patient's doctor multiple times to ensure the Pharmacy had the correct medications, facilitated an emergency trip to the outpatient physician, and personally administered many of the eye medication herself, some of which were given every hour for 48 hours.
The additional sensitivity required when someone has mental health issues was capably and respectfully given by Ginny with kindness and empathy. Ginny is a valuable asset to the department, all our patients, and staff - she brings wisdom, a wicked sense of humor and humanity every day.
