Vilmar Ceballos is a well liked, hard working, and selfless RN that is always willing to help others to get the job done. I have had the pleasure of working with her for the past few years and she is someone that I can always count on regardless of what is needed from her.
Vilmar was recently asked to help by coming in on her days off to help educate staff when needed, assist with TCU paperwork, and just make sure that everything on the unit is completed in a timely fashion. I have had to enlist her help many times in the past and she has always made herself available when I need her. She has assisted me and been a great resource with making sure that all of our staff has completed their mandatory tasks such as LMS, FLU shots, and computer surveys. She has always been willing to help me with no questions asked.
I was recently on TCU when I noticed that a patient’s call light was on. I walked into the room to see what the patient needed. The patient expressed to me that they had to use the restroom immediately. I quickly went to the nurse’s station and the only person I could find was Vilmar. I asked for her help and she went to assist the patient right away. Afterwards I was speaking with the secretary and I realized that the patient was being cared for by another nurse who was busy at the time. When I asked for her help Vilmar didn’t express to me that she wasn’t the nurse of this patient or look for the patient’s primary nurse, or a C.N.A. she just went and took care of the patient. As I walked past the patient’s room when I was leaving the unit the patient stopped me and said thank you. I told the patient that I could not have done it without Vilmar.
These are just a few of the many reasons why I believe that Vilmar Ceballos RN from TCU is very deserving of the DAISY Award. We are very lucky to have a nurse such as herself working at SVMC and caring for our patients.
