I arrived from another hospital in critical condition, and I remembered Victoria as my nurse that day. She immediately went into nurse mode and I have never seen a set of more caring, focused, worried, driven, and determined blue eyes. Victoria kept a smile on her face and never failed to exceed rocket high levels of care. She always goes above and beyond for her patients, and immediately shared a bond with my family when they had to fly in after receiving news that I was suffering from Acute Tubular Necrosis. I couldn't believe that at age 34 my organs were failing me. I just knew I was going to die, and I would ask Victoria was I going to die? For some reason when she told me each and every time that I was going to live, I believed her. I couldn't talk or walk, and I was going on dialysis. But, during this time she always found a way to make me laugh, even if it hurt! She was always prompt with the best care I have ever received in the hospital, and very protective of her patients.
I was hospitalized at UM for one month, and during that time she encouraged my kids to help with my care and now my son has a position in the medical field because of her. She made us all feel like everything was going to be okay every time she walked into the room. Her spirit just glows and she heals people inside and out. My recovery would not have been what it is today without Victoria. Thank you, Victoria, you are a wonderful nurse! My family and I are truly blessed to have come to UM.
