Patient focus is the primary value that drives Victoria to excel in providing evidence-based high-quality care to her patients. She is knowledgeable about the care that her patients require and her strong clinical skills ensure her assigned patients will receive excellent care. She includes the patients' loved ones in their care and listens to the family members attentively. Her collaborative approach makes her easy to work alongside and her proactive stance enables the multidisciplinary team to act on Victoria's suggestions and recommendations.
Doing the right thing even when others are agreeable with a shortcut is not acceptable to Victoria. She will speak up and continue to voice her concerns and not compromise her integrity. She is recognized by our team as an individual who is well informed about quality and importance of being involved to improve the unit's clinical indicators. She involved her colleagues to participate in the Hand Hygiene Campaign, CLABSI Awareness Days, and fit testing N95 masks and encourages staff to contribute towards the unit activities.
Her compassion and sincerity cloaks her and is visible to all to observe. It matters to her to remain mindful that her patient's family members are worried and need care too. She observes the patient needs closely, when she noted the family was not able to launder the patient's clothes, she generously laundered the clothes for the patient and even purchased more clothes for the patient. She volunteers her time on medical missions going as far as Pakistan, Morocco, and Ethiopia. Her collaboration on research projects with Dr. Raja was successful on comfort pain scale for paediatrics and withdrawal protocol for paediatrics.
Working alongside Victoria, it is evident that simply doing her best for all her patients and family members is inherently in her because she loves her job and instills this pleasure onto others. She speaks to inspire others in her gentle way, her thoughtfulness to ensure staff is given opportunities to develop professionally and personally is appreciated. She will ask for help and will not hesitate to assist others without being prompted. Victoria has exceptional interpersonal skills and she advocates for staff who do not speak up easily. She will support staff to make changes in their leave requests to accommodate one another. When staff is tired after working long hours she will arrange social activities or functions for the staff so that we can unwind. She arranges short trips so that we bond as a team and appreciate each other. She greets and speaks to staff to ensure they are okay and makes herself available for all without any reservations. When she is the charge nurse we feel confident and assured that the shift will be fun and something to forward to with Victoria leading our team.
