“Victoria Rudolph is an extraordinary nurse and deserves consideration for the DAISY Award. Her caring and compassion have been demonstrated in many ways. For this nomination, I would like to share the highlights of her relationship with a patient, ‘RB’. Victoria cared for the RB and, thus, made a special connection with her over a 5-year span of cancer treatments. Victoria was known to hold hands with RB, give hugs and each (the patient and the nurse) would find each other during RB’s multiple admissions to the hospital. RB knew she had not been forgotten when Victoria would show up to see her. Once, when 911 was called, Victoria stayed with the patient during the rapid response and subsequent demise. For the next 3 hours, Victoria stayed at the side of RB’s husband to provide support. Victoria attended RB’s funeral which was 2 hours away. When Victoria appeared there, RB’s granddaughter started crying when she saw Victoria. Victoria had been with the patient through chemo, fevers, admissions to the hospital and, then, in her final passing. Victoria has made an enormous difference in the life of this family.”
