Verlyn is very deserving of this award. She is an extraordinary nurse and does superhuman work every day! Verlyn is a wonderful charge nurse and fun to work with. Although I admire her ability to handle pressure from every direction, it's her customer service that I admire the most. She is always helping people! Every day there are patients being referred from MD offices in need of urgent infusions. She quickly adjusts the nurses' assignments to accommodate these unscheduled patients. If nurses need help with the added workload, she is there to help, she never complains.

The charge nurse role on 4 South is challenging and requires the management of a very dynamic and busy unit. Verlyn does a wonderful job juggling the outpatient infusions, overnight discharges, new post op/post procedure patients, and many, many phone calls. When the calls are from other areas wondering what is causing the delay in taking patients, she never raises her voice. She explains the situation and works cooperatively to achieve the best solution. When Verlyn is in charge, she is a great help to everyone, a great resource, and a team player. No matter how busy she is, Verlyn is always there when you need help.

Verlyn constantly recognizes others for their work and a job well done. She is the gentle, supportive "Colonel" of the 4 South troops. She is diplomatic in all her communications.

Verlyn is caring, compassionate and knowledgeable her patients always love her. She always puts patients first. She is always laughing with them. When her patients have issues, Verlyn is an excellent listener and helps them to resolve the issue, whatever it takes.

Verlyn is just overall terrific, an outstanding model and very deserving of this award.
