The ultimate gift of kindness, compassionate care, and clinical excellence were given to me by my nurse Vee (Vera). Vee has a heart of gold and even though she had a full assignment of patients and teaching a student, Vee made me feel like the only one. Coming in for an acute respiratory issue and staying for 7 days unexpectedly on top of being 26 weeks pregnant was already a whirlwind. I met Vee the second night of my stay and instantly made a connection with her. Vee eased my anxieties, had a warm demeanor and listened to me, and included my husband in everything. Friday early morning I had a rough episode with breathing, BPs, etc. I went downhill quickly. Vee never left my side and before she went home that morning after shift change, she sat with me and prayed. At my most scary, vulnerable morning everything Vee did for me along with her prayers, calling physicians, respiratory, etc. restarting IVs, making me comfortable and safe in her presence is memorable. I will remember Vee forever. I am so grateful for Las Colinas Medical Center and all team members. Compassionate connected care improves safety, quality, and experience.
Vee exemplified every excellence always standard and went above and beyond to make me feel like family. As a fellow nurse supervisor from our sister facility, I feel extra compelled to recognize Vee's nursing practice. I was the center of her care and appreciated everything she did for me.
Vee, you are a blessing and will remember your heart, presence; prayers forever. Beyond grateful.
