Caring: Tysen never failed to inquire if I needed anything, not just at the beginning of his shift but throughout the entire shift.
Compassion: He always treated me with compassion, taking time to explain procedures, medications and what to expect. If he was busy with another patient, he always communicated when he would arrive in my room.
Attentive: He always reassured me that he would address my discomfort at the appropriate time. He always listened to my needs and went out of his way to provide comfort measures, especially when my pain meds would wear off. He always made me feel as if I was his only patient, even when I knew that he was taking care of many patients.
Responsive: I never had to wait for assistance. If I pressed the call light, I could be assured that Tysen would respond in a timely manner. If I needed pain meds, and It was time, he provided them without delay.
Intelligent: Tysen always answered my questions and if he didn't know the answer, instead of just disregarding my question, he would take time to locate the answer. He demonstrated intellectual agility in many areas and was confident without being arrogant.
Nice: Tysen never failed to greet me with a smile, he never seemed overextended or tired instead, he demonstrated people skills beyond the expected. He often checked on me before he left at the end of his shift to assure my needs were met.
Going above and beyond: Many times, I just needed to have someone listen to me, especially in the night when I could not sleep due to pain or anxiety. Tysen provided a listening ear and never made me feel that I was holding him up or keeping him from other duties.
