Turkessa Charles exemplifies the NewYork-Presbyterian/Lawrence Hospital Cores values of: Integrity, Quality, Respect and Teamwork everyday. I have witnessed many times Turkessa tirelessly explaining the many aspects of a patients care to them and their families. She is confident in her knowledge and this is evident when she is teaching her patients and families. If a patient is readmitted, Turkessa remembers their name and usually something personal about them. For instance, if they were reading a particular book the last time they were here, she will ask them if they finished it, or may remember the name of a family member and ask about them. She is a great team player. When in the charge nurse role, she knows when someone is overwhelmed and she will do what she can to help and rally other staff to join in. Turkessa is a caring and compassionate person and it shows in her practice every day here at NewYork-Presbyterian/Lawrence Hospital.
