I would like to thank my nurse and share my story of why this nurse is special. I was recently admitted to the hospital suffering from a severe E-Coli infection. I spent 4 nights in the hospital and received amazing care from all of the doctors and nurses I came into contact with. One nurse, however, certainly stood out from the rest, and that is Trisha.
The genuine caring, kindness, and compassion Trisha showed to me meant so much at a time when I felt scared and miserable. Trisha took the time to get to know me personally and I found myself telling her about my family, my marathon running, my teaching career, and even my gel nail manicures. Trisha went above and beyond by suggesting ways that I could be more comfortable. She shared ideas like drinking hot tea with honey and reaffirmed my food choices as I was not sure what to do in this type of situation. She helped me to take my mind off of my illness and focus on the many reasons I had to try and relax in order to get well.
Trisha's calm, caring nature and the smile she wore on her face each time she saw me made me feel more confident in my recovery. I suffered from generalized anxiety, so this meant everything to me. I could see how hard all of the nurses on my floor were working but when she walked in the room, she always made me feel like I was her top priority. I'm sure she does that for all of her patients, and that can't be easy given all of the demands and responsibilities nurses have.
I am not the only one who noticed Trisha's dedication. My family and friends who came to visit me also commented on how awesome they felt she was, and they too appreciated the care she was providing to me. The respect and compassion that Trisha has for her patients and her expertise in her field should be celebrated. I was lucky to have had her care in my journey to recovery.
