When parents have a child who is sick, it is stressful. When parents have a child that requires a life-saving surgery, that stress increases exponentially. Both in my profession and during the past five years, specifically, we, my wife and I have dealt with countless medical specialists, doctors, nurses, nurse practitioners, and general staff. As an HLHS child, our daughter has required substantial medical attention during the past five years. For the past three years, we have had the Fontan Procedure looming over our heads.
Fast forward to the remarkable Dr. S- performed the Fontan, successfully, on our daughter. We transferred over to CV Acute. While all of the nurses we had were good, nurse Vu stood out. The two shifts that we had her were amazing. She performed her duties diligently and professionally. But above all else, she became a person my daughter trusts.
Trang Vu became a friend and comfort to our daughter. She also made sure that we were taking care of us. Vu put us at ease, to the point that my wife and I were both able to get some much-needed rest. Vu's smile, laughter, and at-ease demeanor made us feel good. It really made me understand CHLA's slogan "We Got This!" Vu is a true credit to her profession.
Above all, my daughter rested, was at ease and began recovering and the care of Vu. Vu went above and beyond. Her presence and knowledge, taking the time to meticulously explain everything related to our daughter's care, was of great help to us and our daughter.
