My medical condition required I have a 2ndprostate surgery as well as removal of bladder stones. My prior prostate resection was done as an outpatient using a laser approach, so I was not hospitalized after surgery. The surgical approach this time, however, was a routine TURP. I understood this method and was very apprehensive and nervous about having this done, but resigned to the fact that it was a necessity.
After surgery, I arrived in my room right before shift change. My fears of being an inpatient were immediately put to rest as I quickly realized Tracy was a dedicated, skilled, and compassionate nurse. She began the process to make me feel comfortable, assess, and attach the pain pump. This process can tend to be mechanical and cold for a patient, but not for this nurse. Throughout the duration of my short admission, Tracy always communicated to me what she was doing before doing it. Communication is a strength for Tracy and she communicated to me with empathy and warmth. Tracy always treated me as a unique individual.
Tracyexhibited a high skill level in her duties and tasks. It is one thing to have high skill, but quite another to be a top level provider and do so with warmth and empathy.
I was greatly impressed with Tracy's attentiveness to my needs, many times without my expressing such needs. Her ability with non-verbal assessment to anticipate my needs was excellent.I realize how busy nurses are, yet she always seemed organized enough to never have me wait long.If she knew she would be delayed or involved with another patient, she would inform me or ask the desk clerk to let me know. Tracy exhibited great respect for me.
Iapplaud Tracy's dedication, care, warmth, skill-level, communication abilities, and attentiveness during my short stay. I thank her for making what could have been a difficult, arduous, and painful experience a smooth and comfortable stay. Tracy excels at being a nurse!
