Tracy is a very compassionate patient advocate. She enjoys getting to know her patients and takes the time to connect with each one. Tracey was caring for a gentleman who was homeless, it was during the winter. They had started discussing what types of things he needed especially during the winter. She had asked about needing blankets. He explained to her that blankets and coats were easily stolen but thermals were always needed. After her shift she decided she would buy him some thermals for the winter, when she had returned to work and went to the floor he was transferred to she missed him by 10 minutes. Tracy decided to keep the thermals in case he returns or she said she will have a head start for next year and continues to watch for sales and will donate thermals to the homeless next winter.

Tracy likes to make sure her patients are well informed and if she does not feel she is giving them enough information or the information they need she will seek out the correct individuals to assist. I remember one instance when she had called me for a newly diagnosed CHF patient who needed more information and she did not think he understood everything. Tracy has recently taken on the role a relief charge nurse and preceptor. She enjoys helping the other staff and is a excellent example of caring, compassionate, and mentor.
