My husband recently had surgery and Tocarro was his admitting nurse. She was warm, friendly and light in her delivery of care and information. She smiled and seemed like family when talking with her but remained professional without being stiff or bossy. An excellent combination of qualities. She was efficient and quickly helped my 6'3", 480 lb. husband feel at ease. She quickly controlled his pain and completed his admission questions respectfully. She bubbles a very pleasant type personality that is enjoyable to be around yet she's well behaved in this along with a demonstration of core and concern for a person. I am an RN myself and have to say she is the type of nurse you'd want to work at your hospital. Her nursing skills were strong and thorough along with her smile at the end of her third 12-hour shift. It was 6 pm when he was admitted and she never seemed hurried, rushed or frustrated which certainly could have been an opportunity she chose not to take.
In summary, she was polite, kind, efficient, demonstrated great control in always making a patient and family member feel like you were her only concern and focus despite the end of a long 3-day stretch. Sweet is a good describer and made our stay extremely easy. You just can't beat these important qualities to reflect what your institution has represented to us who have never been here before. Quality with a personal, professional touch. We love your hospital. Our experience beginning to end was very impressive. Thanks for all you do! Bedside report was done each shift and introductions early every shift! Great Job!

She is an incredible nurse who made sure my friend was happy and as comfortable as possible. She has a great personality and made sure my friend's hospital stay was a good experience. My friend continues to tell stories of how Tocarro had her back throughout her time at the hospital which I am thankful for.

I have never had a bad experience at Mary Washington. Everyone I have ever been in contact with has done their job. However, my experience with Tocarro was above that. She not only took care of me, but she also made me feel like I was a person and not just a patient. At one point she got me up to walk. I was super weak and embarrassed. I run marathons and at this point, I couldn't walk. She made me laugh at one point, saw a bobby pin hanging from my disheveled hair. She grabbed the bobby pin and fixed my hair. She said to me, "don't worry, I won't let you walk around here a hot mess." I didn't want her to leave that night. She made me feel like I was going to be okay. She came back the next morning and found my bladder wasn't working yet. She ran the water for me, gave me a hot rage to on my leg. She tried everything she could to get me to pee on my own so I wouldn't have to go to a urologist or cath myself at home. She went above and beyond. I'm sure if she treated me this way, she treats everyone this way. I'm not the easiest to deal with. She is a true DAISY Nurse!

My sister had a hysterectomy and was cared for by Tocarro both days she was in the hospital. Tocarro showed compassion with a smile and a joke in a way that made my sister feel very cared for. My sister went in for surgery scared and doesn't like to be vulnerable. Tocarro got her though recovery by showing her dignity. My sister was so impressed by the standard of care she was receiving as she always felt like a priority to Tocarro. She even joked at one point that she hoped Tocarro had a big enough home to continue to care for her and for her friends to come over. Tocarro smiled and laughed and continued to care for my sister in the kindest way. I am always appreciative of medical personnel who are kind and I'm even more appreciative when they are able to make everyone feel at home and so comfortable in the most uncomfortable situations. I hope Tocarro can be recognized for her incredible abilities to take care of her patients and show a level of dignity that most people are not able to do. Mary Washington is lucky to have found her and I know how much she means to my sister as weeks later, Tocarro regularly comes up in conversation!
