Terri consistently assumes the role of primary nurse. Parents of Terri's patients are quick to laud her interpersonal skills; they feel at ease knowing that their child is receiving the highest quality nursing care. Here are some of their comments:
"Terri was very knowledgeable and positive. She was very supportive, teaching me how to take care of my daughter and giving me good tips. She would take good care of my daughter and cuddle with her when I wasn't there. She gave me good updates when she was sick for two weeks. She made me feel so comfortable. Terri was incredible. I always felt good leaving, knowing that she was taking care of the baby."
Terri enthusiastically mentors new staff. She demonstrates outstanding interpersonal skills that facilitate a positive learning environment. Her many years of clinical experience afford new hires the opportunity to gain a tremendous amount of knowledge which supports their nursing practice in the NICU.
Terri also belongs to the Feeding Committee and Scheduling Council. As a member of the Feeding Committee, she contributes to the promotion of evidence-based feeding practices in the unit to ensure that we are safely feeding infants. In the Scheduling Council, she actively works to ensure fair and equitable scheduling practices.
When not at work, Terri utilizes her sewing skills, donating her time and expertise in designing isolette and Z-flo mattress covers. She has also successfully inspired others to contribute to this cause.
Her fellow RNs are appreciative of Terri's calm demeanor and grace under pressure. Terri is truly an asset to this unit and deserves this award!
