Knowing Terri for two short years I have come to admire her as a person, leader, and friend. Terri is the definition of love and compassion. Her selflessness is admirable, and Memorial Hermann and the employees who work with and around her are better because of her. She thrives on showing love to everyone she meets; she's the true definition of "never meeting a stranger."
There is one story in particular that shines a bright light on one of the many reasons why Terri is a DAISY Nurse. About a year ago, I was working on our curtain rooms. I had a homeless patient who comes in occasionally to get out of the weather when it gets cold. He was freezing, had on only a short sleeve shirt, tattered shoes and a hat (not well prepared for the 30-degree winter we were experiencing). I attempted to get the man clothes, but we had none left. Once Terri found out, she politely asked our doctors to please not discharge the man until she was able to bring him something. Terri then called her mother who brought the man a jacket, hat, gloves, socks, and a pair of shoes. The look on the man's face when he teared up was something I still cannot describe to this day. Terri provided this man with a way to protect himself from the cold and put a huge smile on his face with the love and items she provided. Also, before he left she made sure he had a hot meal as well. Though one small gift, it still impacts the many who witnessed it and it's one of the many reasons I admire Terri.
