Taylor Moore began his career at Rapides Regional Medical Center as a new graduate nurse in PACU Sept 2016. He transferred to SICU January 2017. Not only is Taylor Moore a very skilled and compassionate nurse for his patients and their families, but he is also a good citizen who cares for others in need.
During the most recent flooding in Houston and surrounding areas, Taylor loaded his boat and rushed to Texas to join the Cajun Navy to assist in the rescue efforts. Unbeknownst to Taylor, someone shared photos on social media which showed his involvement. Taylor is humble and, of course, did not wish to be recognized, but he did not get his wish! At the urging of Barbara Griffin, our CNO, he shared his experiences with us in management huddle regarding the sheer magnitude of those affected. He was very impacted by the gratitude of those being rescued, many of whom could not swim and had never been in a boat. He said that he felt guilty when he had to return home to work his scheduled shifts and he could not stop listening to the Zello app, which is the tool used by the Cajun Navy to find the people in need of rescue.
Taylor returned to Texas to continue assisting as soon as he could arrange to do so. Taylor revealed that he was most inspired by witnessing the complete lack of any animosity between the different races, religions, etc., during this tragedy. He was impressed with how everyone pulled together despite their differences to reach the goal of rescuing people in need. Thank you, Taylor, for sharing your compassion, not only in your job but also with the world. Your actions are the epitome of a DAISY Nurse!
