Taylor got a transfer from the floor that was a young mother who had just had a baby. This patient was a very ill young woman with a congenital heart defect that was worsened by her pregnancy. This young mother had been in Pediatric ICU then transferred to the floor and then transferred here to MICU. Her baby was delivered via C-section about 2 weeks prior and she had yet to see her baby because of her condition. Taylor made it her mission to have her patient reunite with her baby in the NICU. The patient discussed with Taylor how badly she wanted to see her daughter and even though it was midnight, Taylor was able to coordinate a reunion. She contacted the charge nurse in NICU, put her patient on a portable monitor, loaded up her IV pump and medications and transferred the patient herself to ensure the mother's care. Taylor knew that nothing would make this mother feel better until she was able to see and hold her baby. She was able to give that to this young mother. Her empathy and compassion for this mother was a little bit of work on her part but meant the world to the patient. I'm so proud of Taylor for going above and beyond for this young lady.
