I am nominating Tasneem Ghanmah for the DAISY Award because of her outstanding contribution to achieve optimum patient care. She persuaded one patient to receive treatment after he was hesitant to receive chemotherapy due to lack of knowledge about the disease and the treatment. Tasneem is a certified chemotherapy nurse with knowledge about the treatment, side effects and benefits of chemotherapy. After her discussions with the patient and family, they understood the process, and decided on proceeding with chemotherapy treatment.
She has received a plaque of appreciation from another of her patients because of her outstanding service rendered and compassionate care.
She has had excellent performance in her position as Head and Neck Coordinator by developing eleven approved teaching materials for her patients. Aside from her roles and responsibilities as a coordinator she also helped the clinic with Arabic translation which really helped the doctors to achieve effective communication to plan the best treatment.
When I was acting as breast cancer coordinator Tasneem gave me a good orientation and guided me in my new role. She requested eligibility access for me and helped me in any way during this time. When I was not available, she accommodated the breast cancer patients and their needs. She is not only a coordinator, but also played the role of direct care nurse, translator, and excellent communicator.
