We had a patient who was unfortunately incredibly frail upon arrival to Banner Baywood and continued to de-compensate during her first few days here. Tamara was able to take care of the patient on her first 2 days of hospitalization and was the charge nurse during the next few days. Tamara was incredibly compassionate and hardworking for this patient. At one point during the hospitalization, the patient was unwilling to undergo any further medical treatment and desired to become a hospice patient. The son (MPOA) was very resistant to this plan. Tamara was able to show compassion and understanding to the son and through many tough talks help the son to realize that his mother was tired and unwilling to continue being in the hospital.
Through the interactions with the son, he expressed multiple times how much he appreciated Tamara and her willingness to not only speak to and inform him about the patient's care but also to listen to his concerns and questions despite her many other responsibilities from other patients to being a charge nurse.
Tamara is a phenomenal nurse and cares very much for her patients. While this one patient is a perfect example of the length Tamara is willing to go for her patients, I personally am aware of many other instances of Tamara going above and beyond the call of duty to make sure that her patients and their family members are cared for with respect, compassion, and dignity. Tamara exhibits what each member of our team from nursing to transport to physicians, should strive for every day and I cannot give her enough praise. Thank you, Tamara!

Tamara went above and beyond to facilitate some special requests to help give us both privacy and peace, as much as possible, as the mother was moving on to a different status and level. Along with sincere understanding and compassion with hugs, as well as sharing some of her personal experiences and wishes in her own life.
