Ta'Lisa's DAISY Award was associated with two seperate nominations for her care of a particular sickle cell patient:

A young child was admitted to the hospital on Friday afternoon with a stroke. He required multiple manual exchange transfusions, and Ta'Lisa came back to work late on Friday evening, on Saturday afternoon, and on Sunday to perform this procedure. She worked in partnership with the hematology physicians to make sure this child got the treatment he needed.

Ta'Lisa is the SLCH expert on performing manual exchange transfusions, and she provided safe, effective, and exceptional care to this patient and family. Her extra effort allowed this child to have the therapy he needed over a weekend and therefore minimized the number of days he spent in the hospital.

Ta'Lisa Davis exhibited the values of personal ownership and partnership and went above and beyond what was expected of her position. 9 West received a sickle cell patient admission who required a partial manual exchange transfusion on Friday night, Saturday, and Sunday. Since these patients usually are admitted to 8 East, the 9 West staff have not been trained on this specialized procedure. Ta'Lisa volunteered, without being asked, to come in and perform all 3 exchange transfusions during the weekend in order to support the nursing staff as well as the patient.

Ta'Lisa's actions led to safe care, effective care, and exceptional service, because she is a fully trained expert on exchange transfusions and her presence and nursing skill ensured that this patient received the safest and most expert care for this procedure. In addition, 9 West did not have to specially staff this patient for the procedure, since they received the nursing support from Ta'Lisa for this procedure.
