I admire Tabatha for the consistent empathetic care she gives her patients and their families. At Hospice, we assist grieving families all the time. Tabatha always goes above and beyond in her care of these end of life patients.

A large Mediterranean family was about to lose their matriarch. The in-depth education Tabatha provided about the imminent decline of their mother and her condition or phase of dying was invaluable. Tabatha offered the information to the entire family, in particular the two daughters who were on board with the Hospice philosophy and was relayed in such a manner that would help even the most skeptical person understand. When the mom passed the daughters who held vigil at the bedside were distraught to say the least. While caring for four other patients and their families' Tabatha assisted one of the daughters by wiping her bloody nose, consoled, hugged and reassured the other daughter who was in a state of disbelief and hyperventilating!

It takes an organized, compassionate and dedicated nurse to weather a shift such as the one described here! If anyone can handle it, it's this DAISY Honoree, Tabatha Case.
