Sue Coyne is the true definition of a nurse: calm, caring, compassionate and a multitasker. I first met Sue when she cared for me during the birth of my second daughter. It was a repeat, planned-down-to-the-minute C-Section (perfect for my Type A personality). Despite everything being planned and on schedule I was still extremely worried about the actual surgery/delivery. The birth of my first daughter was a frightening experience. I had suffered an enclamptic seizure while pushing what we didn't know was an 11 lb baby out into the world. I awoke the following morning intubated in the ICU while my first baby was at Tufts. Everything turned out fine but my fears quickly resurfaced in the days leading up to my second delivery.
On the day of my surgery my fears were easily put to rest by my nurse, Sue. She was friendly, efficient and conversational. She easily managed the tasks pertaining to her job in prepping me for surgery while telling my husband and me stories about her own child reacting to a new sibling in the house. She was a pleasure from the minute she checked my vitals to when she held me for the insertion of my spinal to when she prepped me for the Mother/Baby Unit. She included my husband in the process, which meant the world to both of us. I feel as though Sue is an exemplary nurse and any woman who chooses to deliver their baby at Winchester Hospital should hope to be under Sue's care. Labor & Delivery is lucky to have her.
