The TCAB group on STN was implemented in October 2013. Since that time, we have seen many improvements in patient experience, patient safety, staffengagement, and communication. All the members are strong patient advocates who strive to improve the environment for patients and the workplace for staff.
One of the reasons the team has been so successful is they are engaging their coworkers in the improvement process. Some of the key initiatives they have tackled include: Call Don't Fall, Holy Moly Pull that Foley, multidisciplinaryrounding, and building connections. Through thatwork, we have exceeded all our patient experience targets for the year and have seen reductions in the total number of falls and catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTI).
In addition, they are also tackling issues that staffhaveaddressed as barriers to doing their jobs effectively. Some of these projects have included reorganizing storerooms, med rooms, galleys, and supply carts. The entire STN team looks forward to seeing what other things they can improve in our workplace.
All the work that they have done has impacted patient care and the patient experience by allowing the bedside staff more time to spend with the patient. In addition, they have taken suggestions from patients on how we can impact their care. Since TCAB started implementing improvements on the unit, we have seen our year-to-date likelihood to recommend scores increase from 81% to 89%
