Sue Wagner leads by example, listens with her heart and consistently illustrates your core values. She takes care of the whole patient, goes above and beyond and does not pass the buck. She is an excellent team player, knows the value of little things and exhibits extraordinary skills and knowledge.
I went for a doctor's appointment to check on my baby boy that was 16 weeks. I had a complication four days earlier and my water had unexpectantly broke. The doctor had decided that I needed to be wheeled into labor and delivery to deliver my sweet baby. I was a ball of emotions. Being a patient scared me, seeing that I had only been on the nursing side. When I got into my room, I didn't know what to expect. That is when I met Sue. She walked into my room, introduced herself so politely and explained everything that she was doing. She answered every single question I had.
Going through labor was very difficult for me but Sue was beside me every step of the way. She was the most pleasant human being I have ever met. When I finally had my son, she wrapped him in a blanket and handed him to me. She let my husband and I be with him as much as we wanted. She was there for me through it all. Through every tear, she was there. It was like she knew exactly what to say and do at the most perfect moment that I needed her to. She then took my son to the nursery and put him in special clothes and a bassinet and brought him back to us.
Once we said goodbye to our son, Sue kept him in the nursery until the funeral home came to get him, so he wouldn't be alone. She then brought in the sweetest and most wonderful box that had his birth certificate with his tiny footprints and handprints, his tiny teddy bear, and the tape measure that she measured him with. She will never know how much that meant to us. I believe that God sent Sue to us because she was perfect for us. She took the best of care of me, my son and our family. We will always remember Sue and she will always hold a special place in my heart for all the extraordinary things she did for us. If it were not for her, I don't know how I would have gotten through that awful day. She made it better in every way she could. I believe Sue deserves the DAISY Award for all of her wonderful skills as a nurse and for the amazing person that she is.
