Sue was nominated by a patient's wife for the extreme compassion and exceptional care she provided during this patient's hospital stay, eventual passing, and organ donation. In her nomination, the patient's wife stated her husband had fallen through a metal floor at work suffering a traumatic brain injury and that Sue was a blessing to her during the worst time of her life. Her husband spent 6 days in ICU and they were told from the first night that his prognosis was poor and the only hope given was to wait a few days for swelling to go down and see if there are any signs of improvement, there was none.
As the days passed, his body started to deteriorate. They were then approached by the PNW donor team and as a family, they collectively agreed that he would give the shirt off his own back to someone who needed it, so they absolutely agreed to donate any organs. The family was in the operating room with him until he took his last breath. Sue was right beside them supporting them while ensuring her husband was in good hands at the end of his life.
Her husband was an outdoorsman, so the family asked the friends to dress in camo. The patient's wife stated, at the funeral in a sea of camo appeared this true array of sunshine. As if she had not already blessed us enough, she cared, she remembered, she took the time out of her life to attend a memorial for someone she didn't even know. B's mother, sister, and wife will forever be touched by Sue's care, sincerity, and devotion.
