Well, I first met Steve when trying to find the room my husband was going to be in; Steve saw me in the hall and asked, "Are you lost?" I sure was, I explained to him they sent me to the wrong room waiting in there for 2 hours, and then they said he was being sent to a different one. Steve walked me to the room where I was waiting for my husband coming from recovery, asked me if I wanted coffee or water. Thank you, Steve.
Then on Thursday shift change when Steve walked in as my husband's nurse I knew that day my husband was in great hands. I'm not saying the other nurses weren't good, because all of them were. But Steve was exceptional, on top of everything, explained everything he was doing and why he was doing it. If he didn't know an answer he said, "I will find out," and he did.
If my husband had concerns, Steve listened to what he had to say and tried to help him. There's a lot of people who work just for a paycheck and just go through the motions each day, but Steve goes beyond and truly care for his patients he gives 100% and more and that quality of work ethics are hard to hind in today times. I have never written any of these before but when you come across a nurse as caring and giving as Steve I had to take the time to write this. He is an asset to St. John's. Steve, thank you; it was an honor to have you take care of my husband and he thanks you too!
