Stephanie originally came to Saint John's as a traveler years ago and we were so very lucky she decided to stay. As the RN Coordinator for the general, gynecology, urology AND oncology surgical services, she often times has her plate full. This never prevents Stephanie from keeping a giant smile on her face and always saying "good morning" and asking staff, patients and their families how their day is when providing patient care. I have observed Stephanie's gentle nature as she's able to calm and instill a sense of comfort in every patient she has cared for. I often her patient's say "thank you Stephanie" just before they go off to sleep (for those not in the surgical setting, remembering a nurse's name after the administration of Versed is no easy task).
Her patients are able to laugh when they are scared and somehow in the very short time she has them, she creates a definite positive impact. Her immense spirit, drive, consistency, ability to support her co-workers as well as her unwavering dedication to her patients makes Stephanie the real deal and a complete package. I am grateful, as I know all other staff members are in the Surgery Department, to work with someone as kind and caring as Stephanie. In addition to juggling multiple surgeons (no easy task, trust us), Stephanie is sought after as a preceptor for her expertise, knowledge and strong adherence to proper practice. I feel this nomination is long overdue for Stephanie and I feel comfortable in saying that she has the full support of the department as well as the surgeons in her service line.
