It is clear Steph genuinely cares for her patients and clearly loves being a nurse in her current role.
Last evening my Father was brought to the ED. He is post-surgical and had become septic. When I arrived at the ED, I learned Steph was his primary nurse. Our ED stay was approximately 7-8 hours. Induration ultimately being admitted to the hospital.
During this time, I watched Steph go about her duties with my father. The things I noted of her was the compassion she had for not only my Father but my Mother and myself as well. Regardless of my Father's need, Steph accepted the request with a glimmer in her eye (I assume there was a grin on her face, but her mask hid that.) She never complained, sighed, or rolled her eyes. It is clear Steph genuinely cares for her patients and clearly loves being a nurse in her current role.
Steph many times stepped out of her role as caregiver and stepped into the role as nurse educator ensuring both Mom and Dad understood what procedures were going to be completed, what medications were going to be administered, and what they would do. Steph also answered the countless questions she was bombarded with by my parents.
I found Steph to be very aware of the attention to detail. During our stay in the ED, I can honestly say, I never saw Steph not foam in or out ever. As well, when she worked with the IV meds, never did she not scrub the hub before doing any procedure. Steph's attention to detail, compassion, and genuine love of the nursing field is a testament to her and the Sanford Staff I enjoy calling my work family.
