Stephanie is as hardworking and compassionate as they come! I could come up with dozens of examples of the compassion she has for her patients, but one particular example involves a young patient who was on the SICU for over 2 months and NPO the entire time. This particular patient was getting very down after spending his entire summer in the ICU and wanted to eat more than anything. Stephanie not only took excellent care of his medical needs but she also took the time to get to know this patient and what was making him feel down. She promised to bake him cookies when he could finally eat. This little gesture meant the world to him and made each day a little easier for him. When the day finally came that he could eat he couldn't have been happier and neither could the unit because she made and brought extra cookies (she is an awesome baker!). A week or so later she also went out of her way to speak with the doctors about letting the patient go on a "field trip" to the courtyard outside so he could spend just a few minutes in the summer sunshine for the first time in 70 days! He was not even her patient that day! The smile on his face after this field trip was contagious!
Stephanie is always the first one to offer a helping hand to anyone in need including patients, visitors, and her co-workers. If she could be in 2 places at once to help more people out she would be! She is accountable, professional, respectful, and a great role model!
