Our Chief Patient Services/Nursing Officer, Gary Blank, presented The DAISY Team Award to the nursing staff of ICU to thank them for the care and respect that was given on a daily basis to the patient they cared for over a year's stay in the ICU. Gary said:

"Mr. W's length of stay was 370 days in our facility. The complexities involved with this patient included multiple organ failures and diverse family dynamics. You had the task of overcoming these along with assisting one another with physical, legal and emotional matters involving this patient and family.

You each provided outstanding nursing care that prevented Mr. W from getting pneumonia. Your excellent care provided Mr. W a nearly pain free and humane existence throughout his long hospitalization. Physicians and others remarked that it was the exemplary nursing care that sustained Mr. W through months of declining health.

You all learned new was to collaborate with social work, physicians and the legal system to benefit this patient. Because of this experience, a new camaraderie and respect evolved within the multidisciplinary team. You all gained personal and professional growth that will stay with you as you continue to provide true compassion and nursing expertise to the patients entrusted to your care."
