In a letter to Michael Ugwueke…

My father, George Friedman, was admitted to the Methodist North CVICU on Saturday, Nov. 21. He passed away there, at the age of 104, on Sunday afternoon, Nov. 29. I will be eternally grateful for the nursing staff of Methodist North. The care my father and our whole family received was all that we could have hoped for – medically professional, compassionate, comfortable and helping the rest of us to be with him and to understand everything that was being done for him.

In particular, please pass along our deep gratitude to Stacy Rinehart, who was on duty the day we arrived and who gave us constant attention on November 29. She called in the morning to let us know that Dad’s condition had changed so that we arrived in plenty of time that day. She was in the room with Dad when my brother and I arrived and she gently guided us through to the end. Stacy held our hands literally and figuratively. She is both a good listener and a good explainer. She seemed to know every minute exactly what was needed, both for Dad and for us. I cannot describe how much comfort Stacy gave us that day as we received her attentions and watched her tender, intelligent, and professional care of our father.

Stacy, of course, was not alone in giving us outstanding care. In particular, I recall Nick who kept us upbeat on Thanksgiving Day, and Jennifer who was there through a long Friday night I spent by Dad’s bedside. The caliber of your nursing staff as both professionals and human beings is truly remarkable.

With sincere thanks to all of you,
June F. Entman
