I was at Baptist Memorial Collierville for chest pains when it was revealed I had esophageal cancer. This special lady took care of me and made me feel as if I was the only patient there. Every time she told me she was coming back to either give me pain medication or make sure I was resting as well as possible she was Johnny on the spot. There are so many ways she made me feel special it's hard to put it all into words. She would spend just a little extra time with me when I was having a bad day or night, but she would never slight another patient. She made it seem like she wasn't working hard at all when I knew she was. I remember she would even pick my meals that she thought I might like. She was spot on again. I remember how much more I felt at ease when she was on duty.
I remember the day she came into my room after I learned I had cancer that is going to end my life. I had tears bubbling up in my eyes, but I didn't want her to see me cry. She came over the bed and leaned over and gave me a big hug. It was at that time I realized she was tearing up too. I've been in the hospital way too many times over the last 20 years or so, whether it was here or out of town, and I've never had someone who took care of me and felt my pain at the same time I did. She will always be special to me and she deserves the highest accolade that can be bestowed upon her. Like I said before, I can't put into words how special she is. Thank you and tell Stacey how very special she was to me and I'm sure to everyone else.
