The Surgical ICU admitted a patient from the OR. This patient was special in more ways than one. The patient arrived in the SICU with her service dog. The dog was very cute and pleasant with us in the SICU; however, who was going to care for the animal while its owner recovered from surgery? That's when Stacey stepped in. I'm sure her day was like any other day here at Presbyterian; however, she felt she had a responsibility and calling to help. Stacey offered to take the dog home for the night and board him in a comfortable home as opposed to the cold floor of the SICU. Stacey got the proper consents to care for the dog and off she went with the puppy in tow. This truly showed compassion, caring, and a level of responsibility very few will offer to anyone let alone a stranger. The SICU applauds Stacey's dedication to her patients and their pets in a time of need! Thank you again, Stacey and great job!
