There are so many things that make Sonia such a wonderful nurse. In addition to having fabulous clinical skills, I think what makes Sonia so special is that she puts other first always. This does not just mean for patients, but her colleagues too. Sonia works in an ever-changing department in a multi-disciplinary team where patients are coming and going constantly. Sonia is the first one to stand up and help and the last one to sit down. She leads our group from a nursing MRI Safety perspective. Sonia finds the time to sit with babies while they are waiting for their appointment and making sure everything is safe for them to go into their IGT procedure. She is constantly advocating for comfort measures for patients. Sonia is a master of the "Comfort Promise". She will distract a patient while she effortlessly slips in an IV or sings to them as a form of distraction during their induction of anesthesia. Sonia is always ready to include patient's family to help make the patient's journey more positive. These are just a few examples of what makes Sonia stand out as an incredible nurse. She makes Sick Kids a better place each day she comes to work.
