Have you ever met a complete stranger who became one of the most important people in your life within 5 minutes of knowing them? Very rare. This is the impact that Sima had in my life. I knew I was sick when I arrived at UCLA, but not this sick. I didn't even know I was going to have to stay as long as I did. Sima Amjadian is the true definition of a nurse. She is neat, accountable, organized, and punctual and she does not enjoy seeing anyone in pain. She will make you smile when you feel like crying. She will listen when you feel like dying and when she leaves your room. You will try harder to fight. She goes above and beyond and you are in excellent hands under care. I have never met such a concerned hard-working nurse. She makes you comfortable and feel like a priority. Excellent communication skills. Your voice matters to her. She asked questions to ensure satisfaction. She helped me get through being in the hospital for the holidays. I wouldn't be able to write this if it wasn't for the strength, I've gained just by knowing her these few weeks. She is trustworthy and I want to take better care of my health and proceed to finish my nursing career. I would hope to leave the impact on my patients the way she left an impact in my life. It was hard going through all that pain. It takes a lot to be a nurse; the work is dedicated and superhuman. It takes a lot to put yourself last and other people and their pain before your own. What a compassionate heart. A beautiful spirit. A "serving-the-Lord humbly" type of attitude. It's not easy trying to make someone else's nightmare seem "not-so-bad". It teaches us to be grateful. To understand that things could be worse. It teaches us to love one another, to remind us that we are all human beings with feelings and emotions.
I walked out of 8 West with a new and improved attitude about my life, my health and how I treat others. Sima treated me with respect. She stands out, her care is professional and clean and her heart is genuine. Thank you to all the staff members with healing smiles and hands at 8West. You truly made a difference in my life forever. Sima will make you smile when you feel like crying. Sima will make you laugh and listen when you feel like dying. But most importantly, when Sima leaves your room, you feel like trying. Thank you, UCLA! No pain, no gain. Smile. Heal. Grow.
Note: This is Sima's 2nd DAISY Award!
