Ms. Sheryll Mae Ferrer proves to be a reliable and competent OR Nurse who is able to provide safe and effective operative patient care. Her potential to work in a high-stress environment has been truly tested. She distinguished herself owing to her ability to handle emergencies using tact, sensitivity, and professionalism. She developed sound clinical and theoretical knowledge in the said fields. Even with her advanced and notable performance clinically, she does not forget the real reason for being what and where she is now, and that is because of her patients. She strongly advocates for them and is very clever in setting her priorities especially on emergency cases. In cases when the patients are in need of blood, she goes out of her way by talking to the blood bank people to ensure that these are available and makes sure that the proper amount is available on time. Families feel comforted as well because she explains to them and makes them understand what is going on, especially before the procedure starts. If there is a need for the surgeon's intervention, she also makes sure that this information is provided to the patient's family, especially in pediatric cases. Not only prior to surgery, even after, she likewise patiently informs the family over the progress of the patient's case and assures them that their relative is being looked after.
It is not only the nurses who trust her most and hold her in high regard, but also the surgeons. The surgeons value and trust her opinion. She is always willing to be of help. She knows so well how to carry herself, gaining everyone's respect as she is equipped with skills and knowledge as well as the proper attitude. She adheres to the department's rules and strictly follows the OR routines. She follows the rules and does not exempt herself from criticism and guidance. She may be strict, but she is approachable and knows when to bring in humor to lighten the mood.
She has been awarded as the best nurse in our department last March and she is one of the front-liners during CBAHI and JCI rounds.
She displays leadership qualities and is able to work under pressure. Her performance is something I wish to be recognized to make as an example to other staff.
