I would like to nominate Shelley for the DAISY award. Shelley and I have worked together for many years. She is by far the best nurse I have ever worked with. I can not pick just one example of her excellent care. There are too many situations in which she exhibits her skill. Shelley has a wide knowledge of experience to help put theory into practical practice. Her assessment skills are exemplary. One thing I've learned from her is to do the same things for every patient, every day, every time. She does simple things that make a huge difference to patients and the assessment and care of each person she treats. In doing so, she never misses anything, giving each patient the best care possible. Shelley had 3 patients one shift. A little old lady that was afraid, didn't hear or see well. Shelley did her assessmnet in order as she does on all patients no matter who they are or what their complaint is. Her next patient was a trauma patient; hypotensive, tachycardiac, bleeding profusely. She did her assessment the same way as she did for the same old lady. Next was the drunk guy in the hall and she did her assessment the same way. She does everything including taking off their socks, even if they are smelly. We joke about taking off those socks! If they cut off their finger or if they cut off their hand she does the same for everyone so nothing is missed. All this she does with a smile, positive attitude and encouragement for patients, their families and fellow staff members. She is a strong and fair leader and thoroughly orients/mentor new staff members. I strive to be half as good as this RN. Thank you.
