I am a disabled veteran combating endocrine cancer and other ailing conditions. Throughout my care at the VA Hospitals in East Orange, NJ, Gainesville, FL, and Lake City, FL, I have been blessed to have my sister Mrs. Sheila Johnson-Inman as my primary care advisor and caregiver. I suffer also from PTSD, severe depression and chronic anxiety. It is sometimes difficult for me to know what is best for me. My sister has been at the helm talking with me over the phone even in the middle of the night to give me peace and calm my nerves. She has accompanied me to doctors' appointments and assisted me in being stable mentally and physically. The cancer I have is very rare. I had complications after surgery and had to re-enter the emergency room. I spent a few days in MICU and was very terrified. Although my sister has a huge load of her own with working with the Whole Health Program, teaching and representing nurses and patients with private issues, she took the time out to spend the night with me in the hospital and also brought her husband to visit. She is my HERO. Sheila wears many hats at the VA hospital. She was very helpful in working in nursing homes. I have witnessed my sister's compassionate and empathetic heart as she worked with me and other vets in the MOVE Program in Lake City VA Hospital. She is loyal to the VA Hospital in spite of any negativity she encounters. She leads by example. I am very proud of her. She follows the will of her creator.
